The BEST Centre is a venue dedicated to training camps, founded and run by former Olympic swimmers.

During the design process for stationery and the web site build, we also looked at various ideas for merchandising. This included t-shirt designs for instructors and the swimmers to purchase, sweatshirts, goggles, swimming hats and other related products.

At the time of going live, the guys at BEST are still undecided on a final brand identity!

Former Olympic swimmers open and run The BEST Centre. A venue dedicated to training camps for club and elite swimmers.

Co-founders James Parrack and Matthew O’Connor grew up in local swimming clubs and both went on to represent Great Britain at the Olympic Games. Both experienced training camps as youngsters with their clubs in Europe and as seniors with the British team around the world.

It’s hard to define design. We have a broad range of definitions to choose from: design refers not only to graphic design, but to design strategy, too. It is used in a variety of industries, such as engineering, architecture and Web design.

This means that design is not just graphical in nature (which is a form of visual artistic representation), but also the planning of processes to achieve certain goals. Large corporations clearly understand this and incorporate every form of design into their strategy to achieve success.

For a good corporate design, we need to be aware of two main elements, which can be further broken down into a total of seven ìingredients:

design, as in artistic representation (logo, typography, colors), and
design strategy (brand, quality, community, culture).

Empirical is a new company managed by staff with many years of experience in their specific industry areas. Therefore, they required a new logo with a look and feel of historic trading to convey their experience.
